9/13/2025: "POLITICAL VIOLENCE"

Yes, both political extremes are turning more violent. However, an objective look at the data shows the evil of the radicalized Republican Party as the initial cause, and the reaction to such by the progressives who see no means to peacefully stop it is the response to such. Yes, violence is wrong, but history shows that many times it is the only thing that destroys evil.

If you disagree, you are missing the big picture and the logical fallacy of false equivalence. Charlie Kirk and many of his ilk promote evil against “the other” who are not white, male, Christian, and/or bisexual.

8/24/2025: A commentary on how the Democratic Party in the USA is presently being attacked by otherwise good media for not doing enough to get its principles across. They mention the polls showing a historically low favorability rating, despite the vast approval of most of its policies by the public at large. They want the Democrats to focus on telling the people what they can do for them instead of attacking MAGA. I see no reason why the Democrats can't do both.

Democracy is bleeding to death in the USA. The first thing Democrats need to do is STOP THE BLEEDING by presenting the truth about how evil and harmful the Republicans are, and then encourage voters to kick them out!! The media needs to honestly look at the lost opportunities to directly challenge the lies and disinformation coming from the Republicans. Their efforts to be "fair and balanced" should not include ignoring the harm from MAGA.

MAGA didn't come out of thin air with Trump. My favorite historian, Heather Cox Richardson, gives a quick summary of the US Republican Party since World War II here

Robert Reich outlines actions that the Democratic Party failed to take, but that they and the public can still take, to steer the ship of democracy in the USA here.

KNOW YOUR POLITICAL TERMS:
CAPITALISM
COMMUNISM
DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM
"
Whether it’s called socialism, democratic socialism, or enlightened capitalism, societies need to pool resources for the common good." ~ Robert Reich

Food for thought regarding politics:

"Without some common baseline of facts, without a willingness to admit new information and concede that your opponent might be making a fair point, and that science and reason matter, then we’re going to keep talking past each other."  ~President Barack Obama, in his farewell speech in 2017

Why I Am Not A Political Ideologue

That said, anyone who reads this blog knows, I am MUCH harsher on the Republicans than the Democrats.  The reason for this is simple:  the Republicans have been taken over both by the "Religious Right" with its unsupported dogma and resistance to evidence, as well as a general anti-science bias.  In other words, the Republicans are not a legitimate conservative counter-force to the excesses of the liberals at this time.

One does not have to look far to see that the meme of "Reality has a liberal bias" does have a great deal of evidence in support of it, for example, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Good examples of the Republican failure to respect evidence is the continuing promotion of the discredited dogma of  "Supply Side" economics/Laffer Curve and Climate Change Denial.

In recent decades, there has been a coaxing of the USA back to an era of unregulated capitalism.

The present economic environment seems to be devolving a century or two.

There is support for the political opinion of Democratic Socialism.

One major problem in US politics is the process of congressional districting.  This link will educate you on what has been going on to allow what we see today.

To anyone attempting false equivalency regarding the USA's major political parties, ponder the reality of conservative (Republican/MAGA) Revenge versus progressive (Democrat/liberal Justice). (link)
