A final comment on this section:

"FALSE EQUIVALENCE arguments are often used in journalism and in politics, where the minor flaws of one candidate may be compared to major flaws of another." (Wikipedia)
I am tired of religious apologists, promoters of alternatives to medicine, other pseudoscience ideologues AND Republican/Conservative politicians complaining that their points of view must be treated equally. NO!! There are claims supported by science and there are claims without scientific support. It is fully justified to attack ideas not supported by science, and to insist that false claims not be given respect in the arenas of debates, journalism and news. Claims unsupported by science are arguments from ignorance (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance) and MUST be marginalized.
