SCIENCE is from the Latin for 'knowledge', which philosophically means 'true, justified belief'.

This creates a 4-legged worldview within reality that maximizes well-being for individuals and society.

Skepticism/Critical Thinking

Skepticism is accepting claims only based on enough evidence to support them.  It is NOT "cynicism", which is a belief that people are generally selfish and dishonest.

Years ago, in his seminal book The Demon-Haunted World, Carl Sagan presented an excellent encapsulation of skepticism/critical thinking entitled, a The Fine Art of Baloney Detection.

Daniel Dennett recently wrote an article looking at the legitimate conflict between authority and skepticism.
