Those who support religion, alternative medicine and other pseudoscience usually cite individual scientists in support of their position. They fail to understand what science really is, it is not individual opinion.
Scientific thinking is about understanding, and accepting, what the majority of
scientists working in the fields of study involved with the issue at
hand (and historians who use scientific methods) conclude provisionally
regarding what is probably true.
If one looks at the history of science, one finds it has progressed
both our understanding of reality and the quality of human existence
through showing that intuition and logic were erroneous. Philosophy, theology and personal experiences are based on intuition and logic, and lack science's ability to falsify claims. Knowledge is justified true belief. Only science has the methods to justify claims.
Human knowledge has progressed exponentially since the dawn of modern science. It is no longer reasonable to accept claims without sufficient objective evidence. The harm from religion, alternatives to medicine, conservatism, and all other false beliefs will be exposed on this blog by reporting the findings of science. This blog will also reinforce what should be the basics of education: History, Civics, Financial Literacy, Media Literacy, and Critical/Science Based Thinking.
