" - - - since Maher attests to being such a champion of rational thought, he
really needs to wake up to the mountains of bullshit in his own
backyard."
“Don’t be too high and mighty there,” Tyson said. “Because there are certain aspects of science denials that are squarely in the liberal left.”
Here is Steven Novella's take on anti-science based on political views:
People tend to be anti-science whenever science confronts their ideology.
NOTE: It is my opinion that, although there are individuals from all political persuasions who are anti-science, it is only the Republican party that has institutionalize it. The vast majority of scientists seem to agree with me: Only Six Percent Of Scientists Are Republicans. This is in spite of the fact that the majority of Americans say scientists don’t have an ideological slant.
Human knowledge has progressed exponentially since the dawn of modern science. It is no longer reasonable to accept claims without sufficient objective evidence. The harm from religion, alternatives to medicine, conservatism, and all other false beliefs will be exposed on this blog by reporting the findings of science. This blog will also reinforce what should be the basics of education: History, Civics, Financial Literacy, Media Literacy, and Critical/Science Based Thinking.
