In recent decades, there has been the phenomenon of Catholic health corporations purchasing secular hospitals. This has caused the serious issue of opposing standards of care: secular hospitals provide care approved by medical organizations, whereas, Catholic hospitals provide care approved by Catholic authorities.
Therefore, the Catholic hospitals do not provide contraception, sterilization, in vitro fertilization, abortion — and the full spectrum of end-of-life care. Since they get funds from the government (Medicare and Medicaid), they should be required to provide all of the services that are provided by secular hospitals.
