Someone close to me saw it and was confused. She thought that it was referring to insurance claims. 

To clarify: there are many definitions of the word, for example (from Dictionary.com):

Numbers 1 and 5 above encapsulate the sense of "claims" that I am using: stating to be true, factual, or existing.

THIS is the essence of science-based thinking. One should question all claims regarding any important issue and research what the consensus of pertinent experts states about it.
