I have been posting against a wide spectrum of
anti-science thought. Included in such thinking are the areas of
religion, alternative medicine, parapsychology, right-wing politics,
anti-vaccination, anti-GMO and various other pseudosciences. What is
one common trait in all of those who hold such positions?
All
of those who hold beliefs in areas mentioned above only deny the
science that directly contradicts their area of belief. Otherwise, they
go about their business and daily activities utilizing scientific
methods to negotiate through life and to determine reality, accepting
the results of scientific observation and experimentation. This is
classical "cherry-picking", accepting only what does not interfere with a
belief. We all have a strong tendency to do this. It is the skeptic
who can think objectively and look outside of his/her own box of beliefs
to accept ALL of what science has to say about ANY subject, changing
opinions if they are warranted.
If anything I have said
above applies to you, please don't be defensive, be willing to accept
the reality presented by the best tool humanity has to determine such
---- SCIENCE!!
Human knowledge has progressed exponentially since the dawn of modern science. It is no longer reasonable to accept claims without sufficient objective evidence. The harm from religion, alternatives to medicine, conservatism, and all other false beliefs will be exposed on this blog by reporting the findings of science. This blog will also reinforce what should be the basics of education: History, Civics, Financial Literacy, Media Literacy, and Critical/Science Based Thinking.
