I just finished listening to one of my poker podcasts. Yes, I am a poker player, and find many benefits from such other than the financial aspects.
The main discussion was centered around how one handles conflict directed toward you at the table. Anyone who plays the game knows that there is a constant interpersonal dynamic involved with it. In addition, there is the stress of losing a big pot that you were expecting to win. In essence, poker is a reflection of life.
The interviewee stated that she uses the strategy of "surrender" and "acceptance" to calm herself and enable her to focus on the task at hand. Wisdom. Simple.
Human knowledge has progressed exponentially since the dawn of modern science. It is no longer reasonable to accept claims without sufficient objective evidence. The harm from religion, alternatives to medicine, conservatism, and all other false beliefs will be exposed on this blog by reporting the findings of science. This blog will also reinforce what should be the basics of education: History, Civics, Financial Literacy, Media Literacy, and Critical/Science Based Thinking.
