History, Science, And Religion: The Relationship

"Yes, it (history) is about the past. But those who control the review articles control the present and future as well. Once we see what history (including the history of science) is, it is no mere hobby. It is as central to science as experimental findings and as vital to its future as a research grant." (link)

"The state of science prior to the scientific revolution was a mixture of three unrelated influences: the writings of ancient Greece, the technological advances made by the people of the Middle Ages, and religious policies." (link)

"Religion and science are indeed incompatible. Religion and science both offer explanations for why life and the universe exist. Science relies on testable empirical evidence and observation. Religion relies on subjective belief in a creator. Only one explanation is correct. The other must be discarded. Explanations require evidence. " (link)

Ponder the fact that all of today's major religions evolved before the scientific revolution and when history was unreliable. I guess gods wanted to reveal themselves when humans lacked the tools to verify claims. How convenient (and interesting).
