Gullibility + Church Economics = "Supernatural" Visions And Healings

"Michael O’Neil, a miracle researcher and author who runs the website MiracleHunter.com, told CNA that the approval is significant. It means that the messages from the apparitions are not only approved for the faithful to read, he explained: the bishop is saying the events were in fact actual miraculous apparitions."

As a skeptic, I am ready to accept all of this as "supernatural" with sufficient evidence.  What do we have here?

  • A woman with a 4th grade education in a devout Catholic family in a devout Catholic culture claims more than 1800 visions of the Virgin Mary and 68 of Jesus.  These apparitions began after she saw rosaries glowing in many homes in her community.  Miraculous healings are claimed from these visions.
  • The local Bishop has declared all of this "authentic" after "psychiatric tests that ensured that she was of sound mind, as well as extensive research and consultations WITH OTHER CLERGY (emphasis mine) and "experts" (quotes mine).
A Marian apparition has been approved in Argentina - and it's a big deal

Where are the INDEPENDENT sources confirming these events, and others like them?  Below are some links debunking these types of "apparitions:"
